The U.P. Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has taken into custody a 24-year-old individual, Zibran Makrani, from Jhansi, in connection with inflammatory social media posts concerning the Ayodhya Ram temple.
The arrest, made on Tuesday, is grounded in charges under IPC sections 153-a (promoting enmity between religious groups) and 505 (2) (making statements promoting hatred and enmity between classes). Zibran Makrani, a Hafiz course graduate from a Jhansi madrasa, drew the attention of the ATS during intensified cyber patrolling in the lead-up to the scheduled consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram temple on January 22.
